Updates

Hey everyone! I know it has been a while but I am back with some news to share. I will have an actual website coming very soon in December. My friend needed to make a website for her college course and so she made me a website, which is so exciting! As soon as it goes live I will let you all know. As we all know the flower growing season has come to an end because it is winter. This also means that my bouquet selling season has ended too. In the meantime I have been making handcrafted items with botanicals, foraged items and dried flowers. Yesterday was a cold, clear and beautiful sunny day so I set up my curbside table with my handcrafted wreaths and ornaments for sale. I am hoping there will be more sunny days between now and Christmas so I can keep on putting my table out to sell my handcrafted items. If you are here in the local Portland area and are interested in when my curbside craft & flower table is set up please follow me on Instagram @alchemybloomspdx because I always an...

How to Make Your Fresh Cut Flower Bouquet Last as Long as Possible

Image
Here is the scoop on what you can do to help make your fresh cut flower bouquet last as long as possible. Put it in water as soon as you can. Keep it out of direct sunlight. Keep it away from heaters and A/C units.  Each day check for wilted flowers, take the wilted ones out. Not only does it look better but it will stay fresher longer.  You can also refrigerate the bouquet each night, this is especially good when the weather has been really hot.  Give your bouquet fresh water every day.  Enjoy your bouquet! Until next time, x Lisa Ann

Lavender Lemonade

Image
Photo by Hans Vivek The  other day I needed something thirst quenching but  nothing was quite cutting it. So I decided to make some good old-fashioned lemonade only with a twist, so I added some lavender to it and it turned out quite delicious. The addition of lavender’s heady and herbaceous perfume made it unique and special (please note a little goes a long way so make sure not to overdo it on the lavender). There is nothing better than a cool glass of lemonade on a hot summer day. Here is the recipe if you are a lemonade and/or lavender fan and if you are not a lavender fan then you can always leave it out. Photo by Lesly Juarez   Ingredients:  3 Cups Water 1/8 Cup Lavender Buds ¼ Cup Agave Nectar or Simple Syrup 3 Lemons Freshly Juiced Yields: 3-4 Cups Instructions: In a small saucepan, combine 2 Cups of the water and the  lavender. Bring to a boil, covered, for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let steep for 10 minutes, then uncover, and set ...

Flower & Herb Butter Recipe

Image
Flower & Herb Butter Flower & Herb Butter is fun to make and it is looks really pretty, it kind of reminds me of confetti. I have been using fresh or dried herbs in my cooking for many years and in the past few years I have been greatly intrigued by edible flowers. Now that I have this big garden I have many various assorted herbs and edible flowers. So, now is the time to start experimenting. You can pretty much use the flower & herb butter on what ever you put regular butter on. I made it specifically to use on the zucchini bread that I made. I have had zucchinis for days and needed a way to utilize them. Sooner or later I will probably share the zucchini bread recipe too. You can use either fresh or dried flowers or herbs, but keep in mind that you would need only about 25% of the volume of dry flowers or herbs for fresh ones in the recipe (when I made it I used fresh). Also you can adjust the amount of ingredients in this recipe to your specific taste. ...
